News: new paintings

Penny Arcade - Mon, 10/20/2008 - 14:41

Gabe :   I'm still working on a Samus piece but I am learning the importance of having multiple paintings going at once. While one is drying I can be working on another!  So I picked up some small canvases and did a couple more little paintings over the weekend. These were a lot of fun.       -Gabe out

News: Prince of Persia

Penny Arcade - Mon, 10/20/2008 - 13:41

Gabe : So our big Fallout 3 project just wrapped up and our new project for Prince of Persia just kicked off. Pretty good timing. We're fortunate that we really get to pick and choose what games we create these Penny Arcade Presents projects for. Every year we end up turning down way more than we accept.  Fallout was obviously a game that Tycho had a real passion for. It was fun for me as well since it was my my first experience with that world. I ended up really digging the setting and the idea of the vaults. This new project ...

News: A Valid Line Of Inquiry

Penny Arcade - Mon, 10/20/2008 - 03:00

Tycho : Golden Axe: Beast Rider isn't a good investment, on any axis of assessment.  Also, the title is ambiguous. These are the things I spent all weekend thinking about: - As you reach the culmination of Dead Space, it begins to take on a shape much more akin to quote survival horror than previous. The store that seed so friendly and inviting in a long-gone idyllic Golden Age becomes black altar of greed and usury, a grasping, mercenary savior with a coin slot. The game only improves as you progress, and Dead Space - as good as it is - is ...

News: Spectromancer Is Now On Greenhouse

Penny Arcade - Fri, 10/17/2008 - 14:36

Tycho : I've been playing the open beta of Spectromancer for months - even pre-release, it was a game that managed to find its way into any spare moments at the keyboard.  A game of wizardly battling (yes!), it combines tactical unit placement with judicious use of clever, wildly varied powers.  The strategic depth on display here is something I really urge you to investigate, and I'm honored to have it on Greenhouse.  It features a full single-player campaign in addition to hotseat, LAN, and online play. If you have something you really need to get done today, downloading the demo would ...

News: Brutal Diplomacy

Penny Arcade - Fri, 10/17/2008 - 03:00

Tycho : After hearing that some Best Buy stores were breaking the street date for LittleBigPlanet, we indulged in a fantasy that we would enter that infinite blue cube and secure one for ourselves. Calling the store, the young man on the other end informed us that, yes, they had like a hundred and fifty of the Goddamned things, and no, they weren't selling them. We resigned ourselves to this living nightmare, shuffling from hour to hour like men who wait for death. This was when October Twenty-Second still represented release - the release of the title itself, as well as our ...

Tycho : Yes, it's true. It's almost... self-explanatory, in its self-explanatoriaety. (CW)TB

News: The Breaking Point

Penny Arcade - Wed, 10/15/2008 - 03:00

Tycho : The costume here referenced is a real thing, and conversations about canon and apocrypha as they relate to children's garb generated the strip.  Without going into cloying, interminable detail, being a father is pretty fucking sweet. Because my computer has been gone so long, the time I spent in Warhammer has taken on a kind of Autumnal glow, with sunlight easing its way through orange leaves. A lot of the coverage of Warhammer is actually coverage of World of Warcraft, in the same way that Rock Band and Guitar Hero coverage is densely commingled. I'm as guilty of it as ...
